Playing with FIRE Calculator™

The ULTIMATE calculator to determine when you could waltz into your bosses office, put in your two weeks, and become financially independent & retire early.

Are you ready to quit your job?

Your FI (Financial Independence) Number is the amount of money you would need to have invested in order to be able to live off of your investments.

Once you reach your FI Number, this is when you can withdraw money to cover your annual expenses and leave the rest of your money to continue growing in the stock market, and repeat throughout retirement.

How does that work?

According to the Trinity Study from 1998, three professors studied an attempt to determine the “safe withdrawal rate” from your investment portfolios.

What they discovered was that by withdrawing 4% of your investments per year, the remaining funds would still grow in the stock market in subsequent years.

As the consumer price index (CPI) increases, so would your investments to keep up with cost of living.

This is unlike any FIRE Calculator you will ever find.

How much do you need in your investment account in order to walk away from your job FOR GOOD?

The classic way to calculate your financial independence number isn’t super helpful unless you’re planning to retire within a few years.

That’s why I created Playing with FIRE. 418 hours later, and I’ve made playing with FIRE, FUN.

Take EVERYTHING into account

How much do you need in your investment account?

What about inflation? I included inflation in this calculation. Purchasing power matters.

What about pay raises? That’s also included.

What about lifestyle inflation? Yep, I accounted for that too.
